Our fully computerised installation is described as the biggest twin operation in the world, and the only one with two 3-metre wide scour lines side by side.

Each of our two ANDAR scours is 90 metres long, and contain 8 metre long bowls, of which three are scouring and 3 are rinse bowls giving a quality finished product. We have relocated a 2 metre scour set from our old plant which has been extensively refurbished with the latest technology. A further line is anticipated to be added.

Each scour is connected to a state of the art Low Intensity Conveyor Dryer in which the scoured wool is gently conveyed between two sets of perforated cloth, giving an even drying pattern throughout.

The scour lines feed the clean product into automatic blending bins supplied by Tecnomeccanica Biellese, of Italy. All cleaned products are moved via air ducting around the plant to reduce risk of contamination to clients product.

The bins 25 metres by 4 metres by 4 metres and each holds 20 tonnes of wool. Included in this configuration is an overhead handling system, which transports the wool to the Autefa presses and from where consignments are loaded into containers for transport to the wharf. Wool is packed in one direction to ensure minimum handling.
